There are several Parent Visas that you can apply for, but the we recommend the Contributory Parent Visas and these require you to pay significant fees (£25K per applicant) and meet certain other criteria.
Candidly, with non-contributory parent visa (subclass 103) queues at over 10 years, the only option worth considering is the Contributory Parent Visa. This can be broken down into two; subclass 173 Temporary Visa or subclass 143 Permanent Visa
Both these visas require sponsorship from a child and possibly an Assurance of Support from an eligible person, usually a child living permanently in Australia. The temporary visa lasts 2 years and holders can apply for the Contributory Parent Permanent 143 visa.
Significant amounts (AU$40K as of Nov 2011) are required per parent ultimately and the benefit of applying for the temporary visa is to split the payments and defer the second payment for two years.
This policy is complicated and frequently we find parents of Australian Permanent Residents or Citizens, who may be eligible for the above visas, misunderstand some aspects of policy.
In addition, this policy is regularly reviewed and adjusted, so we recommend that you call us to see what amendments may be imminent or recently applied that may affect you. Call Us Here
